There were so many wonderfully nerdy announcements at WonderCon this weekend! I’m so jealous of everyone that got to go, but am so thankful for the awesomeness that is Twitter for keeping the rest of the country well informed.
Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman (I don’t have to tell you they’re the Mythbusters, do I?) have their own website! Tested.com is not a production blog. It is a gathering place for cool new things. From the site itself:
… [We] have many interests, ranging from breakthroughs in science, amazing tales of exploration, and discoveries in nature to emerging technologies and new consumer products that promise to change our everyday lives. Tested is the place where we’ll explore those topics in depth, asking the hows and the whys about the things that excite us the most.
I’m very excited about this. I am fascinated by new technologies in many different fields, but most sites explain them in terms you must have a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering to understand. Adam and Jamie explain things plainly. More importantly, they have a way of talking about things that makes you excited to learn. That is a rare gift, and I’m so glad these guys are using their powers for good and not evil.
Friday afternoon, Chris Hardwick announced the brand new Nerdist YouTube Channel! It will have shows featuring Neil Patrick Harris, Rob Zombie, Weird Al, and a ton more people. Subscribe now so you’re one of the first to know when it launches on April 2nd.
Yesterday afternoon in a panel with a few of her closest friends, Felicia Day announced the launch of Geek & Sundry! The website / YouTube channel is dedicated to all things geeky, with shows from famous geeks Wil Wheaton, Paul and Storm, Veronica Belmont, Tom Merritt, and of course Felicia herself. Be ready for the April 2nd launch by subscribing now.
I am a big fan of the people behind all three of these projects, and so excited for everyone involved. April 2nd will be a huge day in geekdom!
